Make Money Blogging - Just thinking aloud

There is a lot of money to be made blogging. With all the make money online blogs out there, I'm sure you've figured that out. They've practically got it down to a science what you should be doing. Step by step instructions on how to make money online.

Thing is, why would anyone want to share that kind of information? It just doesn't make sense. So I'm not going to tell you guys how to make money online. Hell, if I knew, I wouldn't be here blogging. I'd be on vacation in the Bahamas or something. Instead, I'll give you step by step instructions on how to start a blog. It's pretty harmless. Everybody's got to start somewhere, right?

You can make money blogging. That's a truth. I've made quite a bit (not so much, but enough) money blogging. Enough to finance dates, clothes, a new iPhone (ahem). It's all just extra money out there waiting to be taken. And you can make that money yours by blogging.

Of course there are still a ton of other ways to do it. But hell, this one is fun, convenient, and most of all, free. So why not give it a shot. An extra $50 a month is still extra. It all adds up. Start blogging for money today!

Make Money by Gambling (is the lotto gambling?)

Everybody wants to make money and that includes our house help. The maids at home want to become rich like most people, and they work at it in their own way. Obviously, they serve as domestic helpers and earn a monthly salary, but there's another way they do it.

They bet on the lottery.

Everyday, religiously, like clockwork, my maids bet on the lottery. They've never really won a significant amount (the max they've won is five times their daily bet), but they keep at it. Everybody wants to make money, and this happens to be how they augment their chances.

Kind of like my whole gambling for money idea. Of course, I've come to realize that you can't rely on luck alone to get rich. If you want to make money, big money, luck is important, but hey, so's hard work. And walking to the corner grocery to place bets is not hard work. Not at all. But I guess we make money in our own ways. I'd rather make money blogging at home (OK, fine, working my job), but to each their own.

Making Money in the Stock Market

I know that I'm always advocating that people can make money online (and when I say people I mean myself,) but sometimes, there's a lot you can do to make money offline as well.

For instance, how about you start investing in the stock market? I'm actually going to start now. I've got some stock investing basics under my belt, and I've tapped an old Accounting professor to walk me through the process. I know I can probably ask my parents for advice on this, but this is one of those "I want to make money my way" things. You can't put a price on freedom.

I'd like to start a small business on the side as well, but I'll try my hand at the stock market first. Once I've got that rolling, then I'll start a business. Why cover one avenue when you can cover them all, right?

Of course, I'll still be blogging to make money. It comes easy, and the more the many-er!

Make Money with Google Adsense

I wish I knew how to make money with Google Adsense. I've been doing a lot of research on it (OK, not really that much research) and it seems simple enough. Simple except that there's so much technical stuff involved. From what I've read though, to make money with Google Adsense, it's going to take a lot more than a cool website or blog. It's going to take a LOT of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) which I know nothing about.

There's going to be keyword sniping (which I'm trying to do right now) and on-page SEO and off-page SEO and backlinks. This is all way too much for me to keep up with. If I want to make any sort of serious money with Google Adsense, though, I think I'd better get started on it.

Passive income is the best sort of income. It's just going to take a lot of work in the beginning, but eventually, the reward will come. I just wish there was some sort of SEO book out there that REALLY teaches how it's done. Ah well. Gotta make money, Google Adsense or not.

Investing Your Money Made Online

I make money blogging. I make money working a real world. But what I really want to do is to make money investing in the stock market. I know it should not be this hard. All I have to do is call a brokerage firm, or look up a stock broker. It should be the easiest thing in the world. Except I'm chicken.

Fortunes have been made and fortunes have been lost in the stock market. Smart investors are hard to come by, and what are the chances that these investors will be willing to share their investing methods with you? What's in it for them? The world is run by incentives, and making money is one of the most powerful incentives out there. Oh sure we can say that if more people were rich, the effect on the economy would be reward enough for everybody, but people aren't wired that way. Which is just too bad.

So I guess I've got to take some classes on investing in the stock market, and maybe read a few more books. I haven't even finished The Intelligent Investor. I will now hang my head in shame.

Make Money, Spend Money. Economics in Four Words.

Make money then spend money. There's been a lot of things I have been spending on lately, and I have not made nearly enough money blogging to cover everything. I got myself an iPhone from eBay (yes, I'm hoping I don't get a dead rat in the mail). I got my mom a birthday present. I paid a few bills, I'm going out on dates. All this with my money made by blogging. Boggles the mind, right?

It's so crazy, though. I do all this stuff online to make money, and then I just spend it all away. I guess it makes sense in a way, since I do have a day job for all the other serious things, but still. Maybe I should ease up on the expenses. After all, an iPhone IS a luxury more than anything.

But you know what, whatever. I blog for money so I can get all these luxuries I'd be too.. frugal to get with my real world income. It only makes sense that I reap the rewards of all these entries I write and post and everything. Make money, spend money. That's economics in four words.

Blogging to Make Money part 2

It should be obvious by now that I blog to make money, and not to release my stress and angst and all that. Well, making money DOES relieve stress and angst and all that, so in theory.. well, whatever.

I guess I blog to make money because there's a lot of downtime with office work. It only takes around 15 minutes to write a post, and there's usually a lot of stuff to write about. SEO or search engine optimization would really help me make more money, but I have absolutely no idea how that works. I'm just doing my part by writing as many posts as I can consistently. I'll talk more about that next time.

To be totally honest, I'm not making much with Google Adsense at all. I'm a long way off from collecting my first $100. I don't really know how this works, so I'm just counting all this as investments. Maybe they'll pay off in the future, maybe they won't. In any case, it doesn't hurt to try. If I'm going to be online, I might as well make money online. Right?

Make Money Gambling? No thanks. At least not directly.

Making money gambling by betting on NBA games is definitely out of the question. The winners I picked for the last two games LOST. And just when I was bragging about how I've got a sixth sense for these things! I guess it just goes to show there's no easy way to make money. No shortcuts, baby!

I wonder how all those big-time gamblers make money gambling. I mean, there just doesn't seem to be anyway to beat the system consistently. Unless.. they fix the games. Of which there has been suggestions of, lately. Remember that NBA referee Tim Donaghy? The guy was on the take, influencing the outcome of NBA games! See? That's a creative way to make money!

Now if I can only get myself an NBA refereeing gig. I think I'd look good in stripes. Then I'd buy myself pinstriped suits with all the money I'd make. Cool.

Money Making update

What's up with my money making ventures? Not so much, really. All I've been doing is a lot of blogging and a lot of reading. Also, I spent on something really big. Which basically is the opposite of making money.

It's not an investment portfolio. It's not a valuable collectible. It's not classes on stock market basics. It's not a new domain where I can blog for money. It's a luxury. A flat out luxury. I won't make money with it. I can't eat it. I can't use it to get rich. But it DOES look cool. And it does make me happy. In the end, I guess that's what counts, right?

THANK GOODNESS I HAVE A DAY JOB!

Still, I've got to start curbing the spending. Just spend on what's important, the necessities. Luckily, I'm at that point in my life where I know what's important, the things that really matter. I'll make money, I'll save money. I have no regrets on my luxury purchase.

Making Money Creatively

There are tons of ways to make money creatively. I just wish someone would give me some.

Seriously, though, we're in a world full of opportunities, regardless of whether I see them or not. Here's a perfect example. The Hayden Kho - Katrina Halili sex videos are now being sold all over the Philippines on pirated DVD. That's a few days right after they first came out. Now THAT's enterprising.

If you want to make money, you've got to be on top of things all the time. There's all sorts of stuff happening, all sorts of needs that need to be fulfilled. You don't necessarily have to make money blogging, you know. Maybe your neighbors need someone to walk their dogs. Or your street needs a lemonade stand. There's money to be made out there, if we just go for it.

Myself, I'm ashamed to say I'm guilty of taking the conventional way. I'm trying to make money by blogging. I'm trying my hand at making money in the stock market. So far, I haven't made much. Haha but the journey is what makes the destination worthwhile! Keep at it, and the money will come eventually, along with memories.

Make Money Betting on the NBA!

I've recently thought about making money by betting on NBA games. I had a recent post about where I talk about the pros and cons of gambling online, and I ultimately decided against it. But still, I'm pretty much an expert when it comes to NBA basketball, and I figure it only makes sense to make money with what you know, right? After all, information is a valuable commodity! Any stock broker, any monkey in the stock exchange knows that!

Many of my friends got rich betting on games, but a lot of them got into serious debt as well. It's really a crap shoot. I don't think anybody can consistently beat the system and make money doing it, though. That just isn't how gambling works. Still, it's tempting. Man, it's tempting. Especially since I've called all the games and odds right so far. Bah, it's not worth the risk.

You know what, I know I shouldn't. Just because I've heard all sorts of horror stories, and I've seen first-hand how bad it can get. But it's still not gonna keep me from wishing I'd placed some money on the Lakers and the Cavaliers.

Blogging to Make Money

I'll admit it. This blog is all about making money, and I have very evil intentions. I'm here to see if it's possible to make money online, real money. I've made some before, not that much, but enough to get me curious about the possibilities. I don't think I'll ever get rich by blogging, but if there's extra money floating around online, why not build a net to catch it in? It'll finance my budding Ebay addiction, for one thing!

Of course, there's a lot to be done. You can't just start a blog and expect to earn money off of it right away. There are a lot of things to consider. SEO, Google Page Rank.. all that techie stuff I have no idea how to do. See? That's why I'm never going to get rich by blogging! I've got a better chance to make money offline. (Which I actually do, but dammit, I'm trying to make a point!)

Anyway, the first thing I'm going to do is take care of the stuff I CAN handle. Like blogging more! I'm on a mission to make 10 blog posts tonight. This is post number 3. I'm not sleeping until I do 7 more. Oh yeah! If you're going to make money by blogging, you've got to be blogging hardcore!

Make Money Online, Spend it Online

I've been trying to make money online (and make money offline, too) as you all know, so I figure I should spend some of it online as well! Lately, I've been checking out Ebay. Well, not so much checking out as discovering. That place is pretty cool!

I know I've been talking about buying an E71 with the money I've made blogging, but lately I feel like I want an iPhone. I'm a sucker for great marketing, what can I say? Also, I think it would make for a great investment, just because it'll make me happy. OK, fine, because I can use it to blog wherever there's WiFi. And since I make money blogging, I think that's a pretty good reason to get it, albeit pretty contrived. Spend money to make money, I always say! (No, I don't always say that.)

But seriously, Ebay is great. Right now, it's just the iPhone I want, but who knows? I might want something else pretty soon. I see some good deals for my money out there, I'm going for it.

Making Money Online with my laptop. Should I get a new one?

I have been thinking about getting a new laptop lately, but I scratched that idea off. This laptop has made me a lot of money, and I'm pretty loyal to it. I made money online by blogging. I've made money by gambling online. This laptop has earned the right to stay on.

I'll change this laptop when I've made $10,000 with it already. That's still a long way off, but I've got plans. I'm going to go enter the Forex Trading market. I'm going to enter the stock market. I'm going to trade online, and offline. Besides, there aren't any new laptops worth the money out there anyway. No sense switching now. If it isn't broke, don't fix it. Especially when there's nothing to fix it with.

I've got two other blogs running that will hopefully make me some money online. Let's see how it goes.

Start A Business or Get a Job?

There's a lot of ways to make money. The richest people own their own businesses. Bill Gates makes money his richest employees can only dream of. Warren Buffet doesn't work for some other guy's investment and banking house, he owns it. That's how the big boys roll. That's how they become billionaires.

Of course, there are other ways to do it. Not everybody can start their own business. There are a lot of lucrative jobs out there on the market, jobs made by the people who start businesses Of course, the economy doesn't really provide the best business start-ups and job opportunities out there right now. The stock markets are down, real estate is down, the housing bubble burst.

Okay, this entry has just become very very depressing. We'll break for today.

How to Make Money? Ideas to getting rich.

It's pretty hard thinking about ways to make money. There's always the standard import-export route, which is usually profitable, but I'm thinking something more out of the box. Something small-scale and easy to manage, without the hassle of red tape and all that bureaucracy. Something that will cater to the masses, at prices they can't afford not to buy at. Or at least prices where the utility received will be worth it.

Food carts are actually an idea right now, but I don't know. There's money to be made there, but that would require employees. Still, the benefits are very attractive. You can't beat the immediate turnover on money they offer.

The stock market project will begin in June. My brother wants in on the whole thing, too, so that's good. I'm pretty happy about that. He's learning the importance of money at an early age. Way earlier than when I did. Hopefully I can help him out.

Stock Market Basics

I attended a seminar on the stock market earlier today, basically, how to invest in the stock market today. It wasn't as informative as I thought it would be. No mention of Forex Trading, stock options, how to read financial statements.. nothing like that. Still, it was pretty good being in the Stock Exchange building. Gives you that feeling, you know? That feeling that you're going to be making money, a lot of it, soon.

It doesn't hurt that I just watched Barbarians at the Gate last night. Man, I love that movie. That's where the real money is. Leveraged Buyouts. Of course, doing business like that takes a LOT of balls. There's real money to be made out there, just that nobody's got the cojones to go out and get it. I mean, I'll admit it. My balls aren't that size yet.

Hopefully, that will all change in the next few months. Good luck me.

Don't just MAKE MONEY - SAVE IT!

Here's a little experiment I'd like to try. Right now, I've got $200. Let's see how long I can go before I spend it all. And there WILL be expenses. I mean, I've got a GF. I'm a human being with wants and needs. I love to eat out.

This is also a training thing for me. It's not just making money that's important. You've got to know how to hold on to it, too. Hopefully, I'll get some self-discipline and budgeting skills from all of this. Looking back, I've been a pretty wasteful guy. I never indulged in the big things, but I kept spending on the small stuff. This time, only the bottom line counts.

My early, optimistic prediction is that I'll last 3 months. This $200 is after all, only for my "wants". Needs such as food and shelter and bills, those come out of my regular paycheck.

Wish me luck!

Make Money By Reading?

I recently bought two books in my quest to make more money and live the good life. The first book was Freakonomics by Steven Levitt. I've had my eye on it for the longest time, but I was always too lazy to go and get it. It's pretty interesting. It's a more.. practical take on economics, as applied to every single thing under the sun. It's a very funny read.

The other one is The Intelligent Investor, by Graham. This is the book Warren Buffet read about the stock market when he was 19, and it sure worked for him. It's not really technical though, more of an emotional guide to it. But what makes a smart investor? The technical know-how, or emotional discipline? A little of both, and make no mistake, you need them both.

I don't really know if these two books will help me make money in the long run. But I can appreciate the new knowledge, new ideas, and new perspectives. I'd say it's money well-spent. Let's see if I can make some of it back.

Stock Market Basics - Getting Started!

I've been talking about entering into the stock market a lot, and it's about time I got started. I'm attending a few seminars at the Stock Exchange about investing in the stock market. It's free, so that's all good, right? I'm also going out to get myself a good book on finance and investing. You've got to be well-prepared for this thing if you want to make money investing.

Don't know what good stock market books are out there, though. I need something that is definitive, and yet won't take a genius to understand. It's all supply and demand, just give me a bit of the everything I need to know. When I know the basics, it'll be easy to search for specific books to cover the technical aspects.

I'm pretty excited, actually. This is the first step. The year is going to blow by me before I know it. I'm actually excited that I'm trying to keep up. Things sure change.

Making Money by Gambling Online

If I were a gambling man, I would probably parlay my obsession with the NBA and place some bets on the NBA Playoffs. The thing is, I don't want to make money gambling. (Although some would say, all life's a gamble.)

It'd be pretty easy to place some bets. I know absolutely nothing about gambling, but I know basketball. I know the teams in the NBA, and how they play. I'd be able to come up with perfectly logical guesses as to who would win and by how much. But still.. I don't know.

You know what, I've always been curious. Maybe I'll place a few bets on the games . PhP1000, that's it. Let's see how it goes.

Argh, but then again, I don't want to risk getting into the habit of gambling! Easy money is never without a catch. I'm pretty torn. To bet or not to bet? If I do bet, and I win, will I keep going? If I lose, would I bet again to make up my losses? This is how gambling addictions start.

Okay, fine, I won't do it.

Stock Market Basics, Timing the Market in the current Global Economic Crisis

I still haven't started with the stock market. I know, I know, earlier is better, you can't time the market, blah blah blah. I've got to get a move on.

Making money is no joke, and no amount of money made online can compete with what I make offline. Or well, if I invest on my stocks online, does that make it an online money-making venture? How do you categorize that? Bah, it doesn't matter! Bottom line is, I should get some money in stocks.

So how am I preparing for this new endeavor? By reading everything. Stock market tutorials, finance tutorials, the business newspapers, watching BBC, CNN, Bloomberg! Information is money. Gotta know what's happening in the world.

Although they say you can't really beat the market. But more on that some other time.

Making Money Online via SEO or something like it

So far, I have four blogs running, and only one is making money. That's awful. Two blogs, I can understand, since they're less than a month old each, but my other blog? It's even on its own domain. I've got to start making some money with that thing, since update it pretty often, anyway. Maybe I need to get a few more links in. Make it look professional and stuff.

Sigh.

Okay, I'm giving myself an assignment. Over the next two weeks, I should have:

1.) 15 links in my new blogs
2.) Disclosure Policy
3.) Better "About" Page

Just to make things look more professional. I've got to make my presence felt, too, online. That means more and more entries, all the time. 4 entries a week. Let's go!

Stock Market Basics, Basics of Investing

Okay, it's time to cash in on the recession. I've always wanted to try the stock market waters out, see what it's like, but I've also always been more focused on building the business. There was never enough time, or it was never the right time.

Now I'm going to be pretty damn busy with the business the next couple of years, but when the market is down, that's the best time to invest. You can get shares at undervalued prices, and then just resell when they reach your desired price. Double the initial investment would be nice.

Now I may know how economics work, but that doesn't mean I'll be good at this. That's why I'm going to set up a trial account. Extremely small amount, the kind your graduating high school student might open. Well, no, at least graduating college student. I'll read up on this stuff online, and see how it goes.

If there's one thing you should all take away from this post, it's this: INVEST WHEN THE BUBBLE BURSTS.

The Nokia E71 Plan

I want a Nokia E71. It's got WiFi access, word processing, a ton of memory, fast performance, spreadsheets, and it looks really damn good as well. I want it. I've got to have it.

Now it'd be a simple matter to just go out and buy one. I have the money for it. It's just that I feel like I need to work for it some more, just because my current phone is still functional. I'm a pretty wasteful guy, but it just doesn't make sense to get a new phone on a whim. It's not that expensive, even. I just can't bring myself to do it. Which is weird, because I very rarely have whims. Good thing, right?

So there. The E71 costs around PhP20,000. I'll save 1/4 of all my blogging earnings and put away PhP200 a week for the E71 fund. Let's see how long it'll take me to have enough to get one. Gotta get started making money!

Ugh, of course I can always just get one now and charge it as a business expense, but NO. I'm going to stick to my guns on this one.

Cutting the Fat

I've been doing some thinking, and I've realized I can drastically reduce my day-to-day costs if I just eat at home. See, I have this tendency to be picky with my food. Not in a healthy kind of way, but in a more epicurean sort. I don't like the viands at home, I go for McDonald's. Or Kentucky Fried Chicken. Or whatever random fast food I feel like.

Not only is this unhealthy for my body, but it's wasteful as well. I'm basically spending for food when there is already food at home, waiting to be eaten. It's a crazy thing. The biggest culprits are breakfast and lunch. Breakfast, I love my sausage McMuffins. Lunch, I love me some fried chicken. But it's extremely unnecessary and impractical. I realize that now, so that's the end of that.

Okay, fine, I'll give myself ONE fast food meal every two weeks. That should be enough.

Money Isn't Everything

I was in China for a couple of days, on a trip to potentially kick-start more money-making. The Canton Fair was ongoing, and trade shows are usually a great place to pick up new ideas and products. It was an investment, and I believe it's a good one.

Anyway, while there, I was approached by this lady with a baby (that rhymes). She was begging. Looking for a handout. Now, I felt pretty bad for her, so I started to take out a few RMB, when she stopped me. She said that the baby was hungry, and all they wanted was food, not money.

Food, NOT MONEY. I was giving her an amount that would buy her food for a day. Instead, she wanted food right there and then, for her baby. I was pretty amazed. And so, I bought porridge from a nearby food stall to give to her for her baby.

Now I'm not trying to impress you with my altruism, which god knows I could use a hell of a lot more of, but I'm just saying. Money isn't everything.

PayPal, don't screw me over please!

I transferred some money from my PayPal account to my bank account first week of March. I got the confirmation email, the transaction showed up in my PayPal history. Everything worked out great.

Well, except for the fact that the money STILL hasn't arrived in my bank account, and it's been more than a month already. I KNOW I got the bank information and everything correct, I've transferred money to it from PayPal before. It's just that PayPal is royally screwing me over and I don't like it.

Now it's not like I moved a couple of million dollars, or a thousand even, but that's my money, and I should get it. PayPal's been very good to me with helping me make money online, but this really pisses me off. I already emailed them, and I'm hoping they give me a response within the week.

I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Pass the Cash please!

The US government just shelled out billions of dollars in the economic recovery stimulus program, but I'm not getting any of it. Pass the Cash, please!

Hi! Call me Kevin. This blog is all about life in general, and the pursuit of happiness and money. You'll notice happiness comes first, but money's always gotta be there. I'll either make the money online or make it offline. Whatever the case may be, you'll read about it here.

Of course, money doesn't grow on trees, so I'll throw in the occasional non-money related blog post every now and then. Let's see how it goes. Right now, I'm starting on: $0. Let's see how much money I can make in 6 months. Peace out.

P.S.

I'm only going to count money I get off odd jobs. The day job accounting is a totally different matter.
